Come Geocaching! Over 40 Unique Caches within 20km!

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Geocaching is a world-wide, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location with the help of a few basic clues. Geocaching is an excellent activity for people of all ages; everyone loves a good treasure hunt!

We have a full Geocaching Kit available to rent, which includes a GPS unit with a huge assortment of caches (treasures) pre-programmed, as well as print outs of all 41 geocaches hidden in the area and helpful maps. We’ll teach you how to use the GPS unit, and what to do when you find your first geocache. We’ll also help you set up your own free geocaching account so you can log your finds and continue the treasure hunt when you return home from your vacation. There are geocaches all over the world, and there is even one aboard the International Space Station!

The local Geocaches are organized into five areas:

Corduroy Brook Pond Nature Reserve
Corduroy Brook Pond Nature Reserve is perfect for a family getaway any time of year. This pristine reserve is located in Grand Falls-Windsor just 20km east of the chalets, and is home to 15 separate geocaches!

TransCanada Highway/Trail Caches
If you’re looking for something to do on your way to or from town, why not try the TransCanada Highway/Trail caches? There are 6 caches hidden along the highway in some very unique and beautiful locations!

Exploits River Water Caches
If you’re looking to combine a great day on the river with a fun day of treasure hunting, you should consider trying the Exploits River water caches! There are 7 caches hidden on the remote shoreline or on the ruggedly beautiful islands along our self-guided canoe/kayak tour

Badger Caches
In the little community of Badger just 10km west of us you can find 6 geocaches scattered throughout town and along the Exploits River. You could drive to Badger, take your quad/ATV, or rent one of our mountain bikes and make an adventure out of it!

Chalets Held for Adventure Packages

Friday, June 10th, 2011

There is absolutely nothing better than sliding into our salt water hot tub after a great day on the river!  In order to help ensure our rafting customers have first selection of the chalets throughout the summer we have introduced a “protection system” for our adventure customers.

Effectively immediately, throughout the summer a certain number of chalets will be held aside for our rafting or adventure customers.  It’s just our way of saying “thanks” to those customers who have helped us make Riverfront Chalets what it is today.

Our “Adventure Package” chalets will be made available to anyone booking at least a two person Badger Run rafting trip, or anyone who purchases a $250 Adventure Gift Card.  This new gift card can be used towards any adventure activity we offer, year round! We rent canoes and kayaks through the summer, snowmobiles and snowshoes through the winter, and also offer guided snowmobile tours! Your gift card will never expire, is fully transferable (so it would also make a great gift), and can be used a little at a time or all at once.

In the event that our rafting and adventure customers don’t book the”protected” chalets, we will release them about a week in advance to give everyone else an opportunity to book.

Drop us a quick email if you have any questions:

See you on the river!!

100% Money Back Snow Guarantee!

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Great news! Starting today we are offering a 100% money back guarantee on our snow conditions!

We will be introducing a snow conditions page on our website, and also highway road sign so we can accurately share the trail conditions! The snow, or lack thereof, on the highway is a poor way to determine the conditions on the trails and backcountry, and we have been trying to find a better way to inform everyone about the true snow conditions.

To back up our rating system, we are offering a 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE! That’s right, if you book a vacation with us, and the snow conditions deteriorate before your arrival, we will contact you and offer you a 100% refund!

We are prepared at this point to state that we will have great sledding conditions well into mid April, so book your snowmobile vacation WITH CONFIDENCE as far as April 15th and possibly beyond. You have nothing to lose, as we will refund 100% of your reservation if the snow conditions deteriorate.

Current conditions are near perfect, and we have the pictures, videos and customer testimonials to prove it!

RiverFront Chalets update

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Hello eveyone!  Its been too long but we have been accomplishing so much!  Just a quick note on what we have been doing around the chalets.  Nearly all the deckwork is in place so you can now walk from chalet to chalet on the hot tub level or chalet level.  The deck around the tub is also completed with seats around the sides.  Most of the landscaping and rockwork is completed and we have grass showing between the chalets.  Its all turning out nicer than we had envisioned!  The rafting is busy now as well.  We had a full crew out for Canada Day and we all had a blast!  The weather was hot and the water is warming up nicely.  Now that school is out will be on the river most days.

The biggest news I have for you is that we will be developing the canyon section in Grand Falls – Windsor this season.  We are going to kick off the new addition with a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  How?  None other than a raft race through the canyon!  Keep in touch for more details if you are interested in racing a raft through a tight canyon with 7 foot crashing waves for a great cause.  Teams will consist of 6 paddlers per raft…we will be providing guides.  We intend for this to be an annual event supporting a different cause each time.  Its going to be the ultimate high adventure fundraising event!

In other news we have had a new guide on form Ontario by the name of Mike Cooper.  Some of you may have seen him swinging fire last night at the Grand Falls – Windsor Canada Day fireworks show.  It is an art he has mastered called poi.  He puts off a great night show in front of the chalets at night.  He also very highly qualified and experienced at guiding with all the certifications we require and much more.  He is enjoying the season here on the Exploits River very much and looks forward to meeting you all!  Thats it for now!

RiverFront Chalets Update

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Hello everyone,

It is a beautiful day here at Riverfront Chalets…warm and sunny!  Just a quick update as to what we are up to.  I hope to have a landscape technician here soon to finish the rock wall, between the chalets and sods down in front.  We are incorporating the beach volleyball court in front of chalet 3 & 4.  We also have a deck man hired.  He is coming out soon to interlock all the chalets together and to the outdoor hot tub.  Pretty exited about that!  I was sad to put away our snow machines last week but am looking forward to getting on the river again.  We had an awesome winter!  We were flat-out with snowmobile tours and got rave reviews on out testimonial page.  We also had a couple bands stay here, the Fleetwood Mac Tribute band from St. Johns and Buddy Wasisname and the other fellows who also posted very nice testimonials.   For those of you who are interested we are selling some gear which we have replaced new for this season, mainly PFDs and paddling jackets.  Most everything is in perfect shape and is going cheap.  We also have a few sea kayaks (both single and doubles) to sell.  We are focusing on rafting only this year.  Drop us a line or give us a call if interested.  Hope to see you this summer!

Wireless Internet Now Working!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Just a note to let everyone know that our chalets now have wireless internet!  Its been a learning process for me but it is now installed and working well.  Feels good to have that one out of the way.  Thanks.

Landscaping well on the way

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Hello guys.  Just a line to let you know the roads and driveways have now been upgraded with class A.  A tremendous improvement!  The laundry facililities are near completed and the fourth chalet should be ready for new years.  It’s getting cold here…can’t wait to break out the snowshoes and snow machine!

Landscaping Update

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Hello everyone.  Just dropping a line to keep you up to date on what’s going on with Rafting Newfoundland.   It’s going to be a busy week!  For those of you who have stayed here, you have seen the potential for the landscaping.  Well by the end of next week it’s going to be completed!  I have a landscape technician hired to do the job and he’s very exited to get going.  The road right from the highway will be upgraded with class A as well as the chalet driveways.  Right after this landscaping is completed we will be concentrating on the raised deck in front of the chalets and surrounding the hot tub…all pressure treated.  In addition to all this we are erecting a new, full color 5×10 lighted highway premises sign to replace the old one.  I encourage anyone who may be looking for high end accommodations or if you are just curious to drop in and see the project.  It is something special for Newfoundland!

Hot Tub update

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Hello everyone.  Just a quick note for new and returning customers about the hot tub.  The tub is now turned 180 degrees so the two recliner seats are facing the river.  Also, the owner of Bubbas Tubs was here and set the tub up as salt water.  The water is crystal clear!  The cover lifter is now installed and nicely suspended between the chalets and the tub wich gives you some more privacy.  We will be starting on the tub deck next week…going to be nice!  By the way those of you who have been in the tub and are interested in getting one yourself you should contact Greg at Bubbas Tubs in St John’s.  He is a great guy and will bend over backwrds for his customers an his products are top quality!  Now that I have one, I will never be without one…very theraputic.  Talk to you soon

Working on the site

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of learning to use the new web site.  Some of the pictures in the photo gallery are large and repeated.  We will have it all fixed up soon so check back for this seasons rafting pictures and updated chalet pictures.  Thanks.
