Central Newfoundland boasts some of the best riding on the island!

We offer two guided tours for our chalet customers, both of which feature a hot homemade meal.

If you prefer a self-guided adventure, we are situated right on the Trans Canada Trail and have access to an endless network of backcountry roads and trails. The Long Range Mountains, Gaff Topsails, Hodges Hill and Mount Peyton are all accessible right from your chalet door.

To get the most of your winter adventure, we also rent snowmobiles and showshoes.

Take advantage of our new online reservation system and book your stay now!

Hodges Hill Guided Tour

The Hodges Hill Tour, our most popular, is enjoyed by all. We head North of the chalets to the top of Hodges, the highest peak in Central where one can see both the coast and the inland Gaff Topsails. The trail to the top is heavily forested and narrow which makes for a pleasurable ride. The last part of the climb is quite steep and requires speed and some skill.

After the eye feast up top we head back down around the steep face of Hodges and onward to our back country chalet. We have a hot homemade meal before heading out around the other side of Hodges to the chalets.

If experience and snow conditions permit, we sometimes climb the East side and take a pass down the other side to pick up the trail again...one of my favorite parts of the trip. Then its off back to the chalets and into the outdoor hot tub!

Gaff Topsails Guided Tour

The Gaff Topsails Tour is a bit more challenging than the Hodges tour. We head up to the Gaff Topsails. They are named so because of 4 peaks that are aligned across the highland plateau. They are the Fore Topsail, Main Topsail, Gaff Topsail and the Mizzen Topsail. These peaks resemble the sails of a schooner.

We do a round trip with a crossing of the "Gaff" visiting at least one of the topsails. We often see caribou, parmigan and moose on these trips. This is a riders paradise with lots of powder and huge drifts everywhere.

It is also often very cold and ground storms can move in very quickly. For this reason plans are often altered because of weather. A full crossing from Sandy Pond to the Quarry are hit and miss. But we always have a back-up plan. One thing we can count is dress warm and take extra gear!
